David grew up in Pompoota, a small dairying settlement on the Murray River. The word is an aboriginal meaning “where the land and water meet”. David’s interest in clay was sparked early when earthworks on the river revealed bands of blue clay. As a child he made unfired clay figures. Then at Uni firing became a possibility and he fell in love with the process.
David developed skills through TAFE under Jenny Mein and Karen Charlebois. Owls hold an enduring fascination and appear as a regular motif in David’s work.
